The most recent news with "The Rock" is that we have hired a new assistant, Robinson. Please pray for Robinson as he adjusts to this new position. In the future I expect Robinson will move into a more administrative role. He is studying physical education and plans to start an indoor soccer team soon.
Another bit of news is that we expect to offer computer and English classes at the club real soon. Depending on teachers and their schedules, I expect we will start classes within the month.
A new program is about to start at the club. This program will be called "Big Buddy." The concept of this program is sort of an adopt a teen idea. People or churches can choose to adopt a youth from the club for 95 dollars a month. This money will pay for that teen to have a box of basic food staples each month, a dental plan (if he/she is under 18), and choose an aproved class (e.g. foreign language, cosmetology, computer, mechanics and many more) or activity (e.g. soccer, volleyball, swimming lessons, karate, ballet and others). This student will be expected to contact his/her sponsor every month and get to know this person. We will use this program to develop greater respect, obedience and leadership among those involved. The student will also be expected to do some kind of Christian study each month (e.g. read a Bible passage and answer some questions, memorize a verse, attend a youth service and others). We will behaving another meeting with the leadership council of the club on the evening of the 18th. At this meeting we will be explaining the new things happening at the club.
